Instead of having participants take out loans, The World Race requires them to fundraise the money needed to cover their expenses for the year, from food, transport and lodging to task necessities such as crayons, gloves and paint. The cost of the July Squads trip is $15,500, a price that is a deterrent for many but through the donations of others is entirely possible and has been made possible for nearly 500 young adults over the last 5 years.
