    Target.com Targeted by the Blind

This month in San Francisco a federal district court judge ruled that a lawsuit filed against Target Corp. by the National Federation of the Blind can move forward. The judge ruled that a retailer can be sued if its website is inaccessible to the blind.

Target asked the court to dismiss the case as no law requires Target to make its website accessible. Specifically, Target stated that federal civil rights laws don’t apply to websites because websites aren’t physical places of public accommodation and asserted that applying California statutes to its website would violate the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution because the website is accessible to consumers nationwide.

Dave's Diner & Brews, An American Tradition
Remember those small town diners? You young’ens might not recollect, but get a few years on you, and ya know what I’m talking about. Fresh baked pies and desserts, home made soups and chili, everything from burgers, sandwiches, and meatloaf, and waitresses calling you “dear” or “hon”. This slice of Americana is what is waiting for you at Dave’s Diner & Brews.

This home-town diner is decorated following a Route 66 theme with license plates on the wall, a Red’57 Chevy out front, and the traditional diner counter to sit at. The friendly wait staff become instant friends and will actually listen to your answer when they ask “How are you?” Come twice, and you become a regular and they’ll ask you how your mother’s surgery went.

Dave’s Diner and Brews is a place worthy of the title, “An American Tradition”. Stop by and tell them you read about them in Northwest GoldCoast.
